We recently organized a two-day health camp in Vasai Village, focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and betel nut consumption. During the camp, a majority of the diagnosed cases were related to tobacco pouch keratosis and Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) — both serious oral conditions linked to the use of tobacco and betel nut products.
Our team conducted screenings, awareness sessions, and individual counseling to help participants understand the health risks involved. As part of our behavior change initiative, we introduced the 5-D Technique to support tobacco habit cessation:
Distract Yourself
Drink Water
Delay the Urge
Deep Breathing
Discuss with Someone
This simple, effective method was shared in local languages to ensure better understanding and adoption. Many villagers expressed their willingness to try these steps and begin their journey toward a tobacco-free life.
We are committed to continuing such initiatives and providing sustained support to rural communities in overcoming harmful habits and improving overall well-being.
