Kishori Meeting at Ummeed Center

On Saturday, our organization successfully organized a Kishori Sammelan (Adolescent Girls’ Gathering) at the Umeed Center. The program was held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where participants engaged in an insightful discussion on the positive and negative impacts of globalization on women. To make the discussion more relatable, the example of the movie Phoolle was highlighted.

The session explored the six key dimensions of globalization – economic, social, political, cultural, educational, and technological. It was further explained how globalization can be better understood through everyday mediums such as mobile phones, social media, and advertisements. The conversation also reflected on the significant economic reforms of 1991, led by Dr. Manmohan Singh, who played a vital role in introducing liberalization, privatization, and globalization, thereby raising awareness among people about these changes.

As part of the activities, adolescent girls shared their reflections on the changes that have taken place in the last five years, discussing both the positive and negative aspects. Women placed in different roles through our programs also participated, adding valuable perspectives to the session. Their involvement enriched the discussion, encouraging the girls to think critically about the opportunities and challenges that globalization brings to women’s lives.

The Sammelan concluded with an interactive exchange, leaving the participants with greater awareness and a deeper understanding of how globalization continues to shape society and women’s futures.
