On January 28, 2025, the Seva Center hosted an exciting science session for our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students, focused on the theme of "Magnates." The session was designed to ignite curiosity and deepen our understanding of the fascinating properties of magnets, their magnetic fields, and how they impact the world around us.
Throughout the session, students were introduced to the basics of magnetism—what makes materials magnetic, the concept of poles, and how magnetic fields work. They learned about the North and South poles of magnets and how opposite poles attract, while like poles repel.
Hands-on experiments brought these concepts to life, as students interacted with various magnetic objects. They tested the strength of different magnets, observed the effects of magnetic fields on different materials, and explored how magnets are used in everyday life, from fridge magnets to the technology behind electric motors.

The session was a perfect blend of theoretical learning and practical experiments, ensuring that every student was not only engaged but also gained a deeper appreciation for the invisible forces that shape the world.
In addition to learning about magnets, students worked collaboratively in small groups to explore and share their findings. This teamwork fostered critical thinking and allowed students to question, discuss, and discover science together. It was an enriching experience that left everyone excited about the wonders of science.
At Seva Center, we continue to inspire young minds by making science fun, interactive, and full of discovery. Stay tuned for more hands-on learning experiences in the future!
